INLINERS INTERNATIONAL 2010 CONVENTION
Hosted by the Texas Chapters
June 17 – 20, 2010

SCHEDULE OF ACTIVITIES

Following is a tentative schedule of activities.  Updated information will be provided as details are finalized.

WEDNESDAY EVENTS (June 16)

Based on the early start of Thursday's day-long activities, registration will begin on Wednesday afternoon at 3:00 pm and continue into the evening.

THURSDAY EVENTS (June 17)

San Antonio Tour:  (bus transportation provided)

  • The Alamo -- The first mission established in San Antonio, the Alamo is most famous for the legendary Battle of the Alamo in 1836.  Managed by the Daughters of the Republic of Texas since 1905, the Alamo represents nearly 300 years of history.  Exhibits in the mission church and long barracks include Texas Revolution artifacts and personal items that belonged to the Alamo heroes.  History presentations and a research library, as well as access to the beautiful Alamo Gardens, are also available.

  • The River Walk -- The San Antonio River Walk is a network of walkways along the banks of the San Antonio River, one story beneath the bustling downtown streets of San Antonio.  It is an area filled with restaurants, shops, galleries and nightclubs, punctuated by fountains and towering Cypress trees.  A guided riverboat ride is available (at a very reasonable price) where you can learn about San Antonio's rich history from a professional storyteller, who is also the boat captain.
  • The Market Square -- Located at its current site for more than a century, the plazas of Market Square with family-owned cafes, working artists and the largest Mexican market north of the Rio Grande is also known as El Mercado.  Attractions include a large number of specialty shops in the Farmers Market Plaza, as well as numerous restaurants and street vendors.

  • Mission Trail (as time permits) -- In the 18th century, the Spanish church established five Catholic missions along the San Antonio River.  Today's Mission Trail links four of the missions -- San José, Concepción, San Juan and Espada -- with its nearby aqueduct.  The fifth is the Alamo itself.

Adequate time will be allowed to leisurely enjoy the many opportunities afforded in downtown San Antonio and the surrounding area including sightseeing, shopping, entertainment, etc.  Lunch will be on your own with many types of restaurants in the area from which to choose.  You will return to the hotel in the early evening.  Dinner will be on your own.

New Braunfels/Gruene Area Tour (alternative to San Antonio Tour):  (bus transportation provided)

  • Vintage Air, Inc. -- Vintage Air, Inc., established in 1976 and headquartered in San Antonio, is the leading manufacturer of performance air conditioning systems for your street rod, muscle car, or classic car and truck.  There will be a tour, a short presentation and an opportunity to ask the experts any questions you may have.

  • New Braunfels/Gruene Area -- New Braunfels was one of several towns north of San Antonio settled by Germans, one of the largest groups to immigrate to the new Republic of Texas.  Settled in 1845, New Braunfels is known for its beauty and cold-spring rivers that run through the city.  Gruene (pronounced "Green") is located within the city limits of New Braunfels.  This village is now a Nationally Registered Historic District which includes the oldest continually-running dance hall (and saloon) in Texas, as well as several general and antique stores, an art gallery and a number of eating establishments.

After touring the Vintage Air, Inc. headquarters in San Antonio, you will spend the remainder of the day in New Braunfels/Gruene, where you will enjoy sightseeing, leisurely strolls, antiquing/shopping, etc.  Lunch will be on your own with a number of restaurants from which to choose.  You will return to the hotel in the early evening.  Dinner will be on your own.

FRIDAY EVENTS (June 18)

Poker Run:  Starting from the hotel, the run will take you through the Texas Hill Country with stops in Comfort, Kerrville and Fredericksburg, ending in Luckenbach where you will enjoy a Texas BBQ dinner and preview the upcoming weekend's annual Rod and Custom Car Show (see below).  The run will be a day-long event, providing adequate time to enjoy the unique opportunities (shopping, lunch, sightseeing) afforded at each stop.  Lunch will be on your own with a number of restaurants from which to choose in various towns along the way.  Anyone can drive any street legal vehicle in the run.  This offers a unique and enjoyable opportunity to tour the Texas countryside.

(NOTE:  For those of you who may not wish to participate in the poker run and enjoy the many sightseeing opportunities as you tour the countryside, there are a number of other activities within close proximity to the hotel.)

Tech Talk/Presentation:  The first of a series of tech talks is scheduled from 6:00 - 7:30 pm.  Topic to be determined.

SATURDAY EVENTS (June 19)

Saturday provides an unstructured schedule of activities from which to choose.  You can take advantage of as few or as many as you wish.

Luckenbach 7th Annual Rod and Custom Car Show, Luckenbach, TX:  This all-day event will include live music, great cars (200+) and lots of fun.

Boerne Berges Festival, Boerne, TX:  Held annually on Father's Day weekend, the Berges Festival offers a parade, a carnival, live entertainment, dancing, pageantry and numerous vendors selling good food and drink.  It is held on the town square with its quaint gazebo and beautiful fountain, with a stage erected on a closed off street.  The old world ambiance results in a real Hill Country-style shindig.

"Open" Board Meeting:  An open Board of Directors Meeting will be held at 12 noon.  All are welcome to attend.  Lunch will be provided.

Tech Talks/Presentations:  The series continues from 2:30 - 5:00 pm.  Topics to be determined.

SUNDAY EVENTS (June 20)
