Chris Lee's 1953 Chevrolet

Hello Inliners,

This is my 1953 Chevrolet Bel Air 4 door.  I was going through "Gotta-Have-One-Ititis" without a project about two months ago, my brother in law sold me this car for $500.  It was pretty rough, but it is a great way to keep my mind occupied, and also my father has joined in making this a family bonding project. It has the original 235 6 cyl, and three speed on the column. I at first was thinking about turning her into a street machine with the 350 v8 and all, but after many positive compliments about her originality, I plan on keeping her fairly stock.  I will upgrade such safety items as brakes, tires, wiring, etc., but will keep her looking as original as possible.  The original 235 is a real torquey engine and I was impressed with the stock performance.  I have had v-8s with less offline power. I may upgrade the carburetion later on, but plan on keeping the original engine , as it does just fine. The car was originally a woodland green on top with a campus cream body. I wasn't too excited about that, but am considering either a black/ red combination or the 1956 Chevrolet Dusk Rose.

Thank You,

Christopher Lee
