Chapter Chatter 12 Port News Mar/Apr 2007 |

Yeee-Doggies!
Not one but two, I say two, new Chapters! First, the good folks in Alberta and
British Columbia provinces of Western Canada formed the Nor-West Chapter,
Inliners International. Lance Brown Is Chapter Head. I think Lance misunderstood
and stepped forward instead of backward, and they nailed his shoes to the
floor. Then, in Texas' on-going plot to take over the world, the Nor-Tex (Posse)
Chapter, Inliners International seceded from the union, or should I say formed a
Chapter, consisting of Inliner members living above a shaky line dissecting
the state from New Mexico to the Louisiana borders. After a couple fist fights,
29 beers on the wall, short straws, two marble games and several threats, Steve
Wyatt was selected Chapter Head. At least 'til someone gets the "drop"
on him, or he gets impeached. Whichever. The two new Chapters are effective
March 1, 2007. Join me in welcoming them to the fold and wishing them all the
success in the world. The current Texas Chapter, with Alan Cunningham (Al C.) as
Chapter Head, will meet shortly and select a new name. Or maybe not. Jean "QOE"
Weigt and I think "So-Tex" pretty snappy, but it's not our call. Stay
tuned.
The
"Honorary" Bonneville Chapter formation is on-going. The not too
humble (so humble?) Wise a--, former I.I. President, founding member, Chapter
Coordinator, and I don't know what all, Gary Wise (#00000000004) will be the
Chapter Head. If you haven't signed on the dotted line, it's recommended y'all
do so. Download the petition from the website and get it back to Gary prior to
May 31, 2007. As previously pointed out by many, Gary is not a good person, but
it is believed by a few that he can handle this entirely thankless task. At
least we hope so.
The
Florida Chapter met at Buddy Freddy's Restaurant In Plant City on February 24,
and around 25 or so attended a breakfast get-together. One of the instigators,
Ed Wilson, was unable to attend, but his co-conspirators Bill Robinson and
Chapter Head Larry Page report renewed inline enthusiasm among members. Spies
tell me Greg Fingers' Chevy II with the throbbing 250 was a hit. After
breakfast, some members took off for Zephyrhills to participate in the car
happenings there.
Ontario
Inliner, Don Nicholls, reports sparse attendance at first breakfast of new year.
Let's see, sub-freezing temperatures, blowing snow and icy roads. Nuff said.
We
hear from Rob Mercer that the Caroliners met on Feb 17 for their first
"official" meeting of the new year. Seven members present, plus 5 new
members signed up (good goin', Rob!) for a total of 15 in attendance. Hot dogs
with all the fixin's, vegetable beef soup and brownies were served. A good time
was had by all.
Luke
Lucas, Midwest Chapter Head, has an Inliners picnic planned for May 19 at West
Lake Park, rural Davenport, Iowa. They also plan two other 2007 events. More
info later and check "Events Calendar." Incidentally, Luke is coming
to Texas for Sonny and Dixie Rossi's Memorial Day Bash on May 26 at the Rossi's
Goat Ranch in San Antone! Are you? If you miss this get together, you'll miss
the "event" of 2007. Seriously, consider attending and be eligible
to win one of the awesome door prizes (including a $125 gift certificate
recently donated by "Buffalo") and/or awards. All you have to do is be
a member in good standing. Great destination, great food, good lodging and the
finest folks in the world. Come on down!
Rumor
has Midwest (Davenport, Iowa) in the running for the 2008 "mini"
convention. Sounds interesting. Rod shops and John Deere tours would appeal to
most Inliners.
Lots
of swap meets, car shows, expos at this time of year. Get out and participate.
Show your inline rides and sign up at least one new member. Remember Jean
Weigt's "Each One, Reach One" membership campaign.
Finally
Chapter Heads, please send us information on your planned events and we'll help
publicize it.
If
I can help you, let me know. See ya
