Thought I would share some progress pics of my setup. I got everything hooked up for my carbs and they work great. I converted my front carb from water choke to a manual by drilling out the metal housing and using the shaft from an old manual choke. The picture of the pipes was taken while they were just tacked in place. I pieced them together from some bends I bought through jcwhitney with Thrush glasspacks from Summit. They sound pretty cool. Little bit of vibration when I'm on the gas from 2nd to 3rd but not bad. My gearing is so looow though I am anxious to see how they will be with higher and quieter gears. 41ChevyTrucker,those are some nice pictures of your ride's motivation.I've got the same breathers but with the brushed finish.I haven't completed my dual set-up because I'm putting the finishing touches to all my bracketry.I'm retaining the stock Nova's 6cyl. linkage and using Langdon's on the carbs,connecting the two is a'67 throtle cable and the brackets I made to support it.I have no idea as to what kind of mufflers I'm going to run on my split exhaust so I'm allways reading raprap's posts for insight.Thanks for the pictures they are great motivators.HF IP: Logged |

Finally and with Jack's help I think that I will be able to post some pictures of my dual carb setup.I just have the head sitting on the bare block with the carbs and linkages installed.I fabricated two brackets to support both ends of a throtle cable and one end for the cable to fasten unto the factory bellcrank.I still have to attach the ball stud to the crank but I think it is mostly finish.First the right side view  Left side view

This is a Mercury Marine valve cover like the one twisted six has in his ride but that I was not aware of them until I read Mr.Leo Santucci's book.I made the bowtie out of stainless and the six badge was donated by an early Nova.

Nice I like your choke set up, may have to try that on my 53 once I am at that point. Are you running heat to the intake manifold,if so how? I don't see anything set up in the pictures unless I am just missing it. My exhaust for my 53 looks very simular, pipes,glasspacks,and headers, I love the way they sound but my wife thinks the car is to loud. Just glad she loves me,she lets me enjoy all this stuff. ------------------

Where do you come up with the Mercury Marine valve covers? Is there a web site somewhere or do you have to find a Mercury Marine dealer in the area? I have an Offenhouser on mine now but I need to have some provision for a PCV valve and that cover doesn't have one and can't seem to bring myself to use the stocker.

I have seen a couple on ebay that went for about $50.00.I know a few people that are into boats and was able to locate this one by putting the word out.I gave the guy the stocker after I cleaned and painted it and $20.00.It was really clean with a flat black paint on it,I painted it with gloss black and rubbed it to a shine.HF IP: Logged |

hetic, motor looks like it is coming along nicely. Let me know how that throttle cable linkage works out. I think I might add another spring somewhere to my setup. I want one of those 6 badges!slvigil53,
I am running water heat to the base of the mainfold. the tubing exits towards the block at an angle then down underneath the front of the pan and back up to the thermostat and heater. I zip tied it all together and it came out pretty clean.
