i was about to buy a 292 from someone on the site when i was told it would not fit, so i need some advice. i have a 57 chevy pickup with 350 v-8 and 350 AT and am considering a straight six. seems the new 4.2 is just too tough based on wiring. when i found the 292 i was told it was too long. i dont know the length from fan to back of block that would be next to the firewall so i cant tell. does anyone know the lengths?
would i do better with a 250?
thanks guys

Should be no problem. I run a 292 in my 55 BelAir car. With a torch & welder I think anything will fit. Doug

TShe 292 will fit right in if you use the short shaft water pump. I have one in a 1932 pickup and it fits fine.

Look for the "Vortec 4200" theard in the Hi Performance forum. There is a lengty discussion on the 4200 and how to solve the wiring issues.

The Big difference in the two Blocks are the dampener Size Because the 292s have a 3 groove where as the 250s have a 2 groove. So that the water Pumps are different. But OVER all The Blocks
are the same In lenght. and the 292 is a 1 3/4 Taller then the 194,230,250 blocks.
