I don't have a new enough book. Can anyone tell me the setting for the valves on a stock 261"? I got mine in my 48 fleetline and got it started last night and would like to run the valves befor to long. Planning on a maiden trip this weekend to goodguys, Des Moines. THANKS 1 OL REDNECK

Those settings were originally published for use in a 2 ton truck.
More lash on the exhaust keeps the valves seated a bit longer and 'cooler' under heavy load.
The drawback is more noise.

For a car .014" lash on the exhaust is fine and runs quieter.

Thanks guys. It came out of a 2 ton truck and I thought it sounded just a little noisy. Really glad to get the help. I used to know every thing but thats just not working anymore. 1 OL REDNECK.
