I have a stock ford 4.9 efi. It has a seperate upper and lower intake manifold.

Im thinking about adapting two stock throttle bodies to the lower, they would point straight up, give it something of an old school look I guess.

I believe what I would need is a piece of aluminum stock.

25" X 4" X 2-3"

Id need the ends welded shut and the top and bottom (widest sides) surfaced to ensure its flat.


I will cut the runner openings and drill and tap as needed, I basically just need a flat box.

Im sure this could be done local but Im not sure where to look but I will. Figured Id ask some fellow inliners that might be a little more enthusiastic about what they are doing, being its for an inline engine.

The stock would need to be thick enough that it could be tapped, obviously.

Gimme an estimate.

You might try the folks at this link for a piece of alum. rect. tubing. They show only 1/8" thickness for the size you want, but thicker may be available.

Even for the 1/8" thick material, you might figure out some way to put threaded inserts in.

And the tubing would probably be flat enough to eliminate the need for surface machining, so this should be a more economical solution than what I previously quoted you.
