By way of introduction, I'm a new member and I have three inline sixes: a 1955 Chevrolet 235 (in a '55 Chevy 1st Series pickup truck), a 1956 GMC 302 in a '37 Chevy pickup truck) and a 1991 Jeep 4.0 liter (in a 1991 Wrangler Renegade).

This thread is about the Stovebolt 235. I am in the mock up stage and haven't torn the engine down yet. At first I wasn't going to do much to the engine other than add the blower kit and replace seals because it's a street truck and I don't do much rompin' stompin' in it but, mission creep being what it is, we're beyond that now and am going to beef up the engine internals a bit if I can locate a good machinist.

I maintain a log on my website and here is a link to the first log entry for this build -

BillyBob Log: Here . . . We . . . Go !

And a few of current pics of the current state of the mockup -

This is Terra incognita for me but I am a geezer and slower than a glacier and maybe I may learn enough along the way to protect me from the big mistakes. Any help is appreciated.

Hi Laroke . . . welcome to the boards. That's a lot of blower - dual quads? How much boost are you planning?

Keep the pics coming.

Thanx. One 600 cfm Carter AFB. Six pounds boost or less. Can't beef up the lower ends on these Stovebolts much, as you guys know. Currently planning on GMC 302 rods and Ross forged pistons.

I think you need more bling on that. And a bigger blower. Might as well add a bottle too. (Sarcasm)

Wow that things gonna move when you're done!

You're the second fella to mention a bottle. After I blow the bottom of the engine out with a bottle, I'd be taking to the bottle myself.

We're movin' now. We may only be in first gear but it's continuous movement on the project, not spurts n jerks.

This episode is titled Slammin' the nose. The engine mock up undergoes fine-tuning as does the dropped front axle mock up. New, larger, rear wheels and tires are purchased, Interior refinements are begun and the first components of the exhaust system are obtained.

After seven months of very little activity in the BillyBob Shop, I'm working out there again. This episode outlines what little I've been doing in that time period.
