Hi,

Since I have the pan out, I would like to take the opportunity to add a breather and oil return line for a turbo. Not that I would need either for a long time if ever, but I would like to be prepared \:D

The breather I can put on the fuel pump block off plate.

But where on the left side of the oil pan should I put the oil return?

Pretty much anywhere above the oil line in the pan.

Basically just below the oil pan rails.

You would want as straight a shot as possible with no lower loop ( return line goes down then up to the pan fitting) in the oil return hose.

I have no idea where the turbo would sit, if I ever get that far...

Does the pipe need to extend inside the pan to prevent sloshing or windage, or is it not an issue? I'm somewhat new to these engines... as you can tell \:\) This is a street driven car.

I would say hold off until you plan out your turbo system. Its not that big of a deal to tap a fitting into the pan (or even remove the pan to install a fitting). As Hank said above you want to have that return in the right place to allow proper drainage of the turbo without restriction of any kind. As for the fitting, most systems just "dump" into the pan without regard for smooth flow of the oil or windage of anykind. However every bit helps, if you could extend the fitting into the pan (taking care to leave clearance for the crank and rods etc..) with a slight downward slope or maybe even a nice radius to drop the oil toward the rear of the engine then that would likely be perfered over just "dumping" it in the pan.
