I want to put a tach in the instrument panel in my '64 Nova Wagon. The problem that I'm having is that I need to order a tach, and to order it, I need to know what size the hole in the instrument panel is that the tack is going to mounted in. The tach is going to be installed in place of the clock, so it's the center hole in the dash that I need to find the diameter of the hole. So far, I haven't been able to find anyone who knows what size that darn hole is. Anybody out there have a '64 Nova instrument panel sitting around that you can measure?

I have a 10,000 tech sitting were my clock used to be NO cutting of the cluster. You Just can't use what they call the MONSTER Tech.

You can use this tach. only this one is only a 8000

Larry,

I appreciate the reply, but that really doesn't tell me anything useful. What size, as in 2 5/8", 2 3/4", 3 1/8", or 3 3/8", is the body of the tach that you inserted in your post? It sort of looks like an Auto Meter, so if it is, which model is it? I have about four or five tachs that I think would fit, but I need to know which one to order so I don't have to go through the hassle of returning it if it's not the right size.

Wagoneer,
Have you tried one of the Nova sites?

http://www.stevesnovasite.com/index.php

FWIW:
On my 64 CHEVELLE I used a VDO Series 1 Tachometer 333355.
(Looks like it belongs, is 3 3/8", and has a realistic 0-7000 rpm range.)

I had an extra dash which made cobbling the mount easy so it was just a matter of slipping it into the clock hole.
