I looked at your new racer update a couple of days ago, and saw, "...rare iron crossflow head..." (then I blinked...and it was still there!)

From the pictures, it looks like a regular 300 12-port that may have been intended for production, and definitely not a cobbled-together V-8 head or a billet job without coolant passages.

A lot of curious BB Six guys sure would like to know the history of that piece (and just how rare is it?).

The E,
Sure didnt take you guys long to pick up on that one...
I plan to write an article about this head for the 12PN at a later date, after my new car is completed...
There were two versions of this head made...
To answer your last question "rarer than big block Chevies at an Inliners convention". The second version is even rarer than that!

Hey Frenchie!

I have been studying the pictures you posted of that crossflow head. I know the chances of my ever aquiring one are less than zero, but tell us more about it! How did you get it? More pictures!? How well does it flow? Thanks

Thanks TW6. I'll be taking it real easy until I become proficient with all the buttons and gadgets. Track surfaces up here in MI get real cold this time of year, and my track record (pun intended) under these adverse conditions is not unblemished so easy does it for now...

It was under miserable, cold track conditions that I lost my old "FRENCHTOWN FLYER".

The J/A car on inlinesix.com is mighty impressive.

So are a few of my buds whose 300 Ford six altered runs in the 7's. (P.S. they just won the NHRA Div. III points championship)

What I'm trying to do with my new car is bracket race on the highest level. That means I'll be tickled to death if my car dips into the eights, just so long as it is infinitely reliable and deadly repeatable.

I like to RACE cars. I just hate WORKING on them. Therefore I'm more than willing to trade off some performance to gain reliability.

When they bring out the hybrid-headed monster motors I am happy to stand on the sidelines and admire them as they flash by in record setting fashion.

Its a big sport - there's room for everyone...

Col.,
Click on the "Racing" heading to the left. Also, my new car was featured on the cover of "The 12 Port News" a few months ago. Forgot the issue #.

I still haven't put 'er in the eights but I will be building a new engine next spring that may do it.

The head is still on my Super Pro bracket racer. Last year, after racing it continuously since the year I built it I rebuilt the engine. Went up .005 in the bore, new pistons, rings, bearings and cam gears and valve job. I have qualified the car for the Division 3 NHRA Bracket Finals each year since I've been racing it. They have reduced us Super Pro cars to running on an eighth mile track which actually favors my car over the faster S/P ones which were inching up to 180 mph quarter mile trap speeds which I found hard to gage looking backwards going thru the lights. Best 1/8 mile e.t. has been 5.65.

Also, my old Logghe car which I mentioned I lost in a crash - good news. I collected parts for 11 years to rebuild it and now race it at select vintage nostalgia races. It has a stock headed detuned bracket engine. Thanks for asking. Still kickin; it.
