Greetings . . .

This past summer I was itching to get the engine off the stand and back between the frame rails.

This got me heads down on cleaning up the firewall and front third of the frame. First step was to get rid of all the grease and grime - and then wire brush the loose rust and scale on the frame - and I also did a little sanding on the firewall:


Next I wiped everything down with Accentone and then used black POR15 on the frame rails - which were then topcoated with Eastwoods chassis black.

On the firewall I used clear POR15 anywhere there was rust. While it was still tacky I topcoated with Rustoleum Primer:



I found that 1980's era BMW cars came in a color called Mondeo Blue. I ordered a can of touch up paint in that color and tested for color match. Seemed close enough for firewall work so I ordered some more:
