Recently helped my cousin pull a 52 Buick inline 8.

Boy, I dig this motor. I've never seen one before.

From my research, I give this engine a D- for performance, but for cool, I give it an A+.

If I weren't forging ahead with my Vortec build, I would definately be looking at one of these.

It reminds a heck of alot of a Stovebolt. It would like nice between the fenders of my truck.

Imagine what an in line 8 cylinder version of the GM Atlas (Vortec 4200) would be like..... a modern version of the Duesenberg J.

That would be cool, or a V12 Atlas engine.

It's not really that much longer than a 235, to my surprise. The water pump and pulley seem to be a little tighter to the block. The bore is 3 1/8 and stroke 4 1/8, so the cylinders are closer together than that of the 235.
It has side mounts, so it could be installed tight to the firewall. All in all, it probably doesn't take up any more space than a GMC 302.

My uncle had one when we were kids, back in the fifties. They were SMOOOOOOOTH!!

A friend of mine ran the bigger version (320 I think) in a dragster in the late '50s and early '60s. It had home made injection and according to him still holds a record since they eliminated the class. I have a picture of it somewhere.
