Hello, I have a 1983 Jeep 258 engine in my 1950 pickup. It does not like it's valve cover oil tight.. I've resealed it a number of times with new cork type gaskets.. I've used a number of gasket sealers including silicone to glue the gasket in place... It always leaks after a few hundred miles.. It always leaks on the manifold side..

Has anyone had luck using straight silicone, with no gasket? Anyone have an oil tight v/c on their inline? How did you do it?

Hey Melon . . .

Do you have breathers/vents on that valve cover? The engine may be producing crank-case pressure sufficient to break the seal.

I have always taken a ball peen hammer and flattened out the mounting holes from the back side. You probably already know this but thought I would throw it out there.

Mee too. I buck it up with an appropriate sized deep well socket
