I have a set of Hedman headers on my 250 in my '68. They should only go one way. The headers should come with a little pink sheet of paper that shows you how to bolts the up. Here's a pic of mine on the 250. If you got the uncoated ones they are going to rust faster than you can say Hedman. The headers on my 250 were bought brand new from P.A.W and installed from the box about 2-3 months ago.

Hope this helps. John.

I have a set of Dynomax dual tubes for my '66 Chevrolet truck with a 292. Here's a pic.

They're the same as the Hedman headers. Different name.

I just bought a set of Clifford "shorty" tube headers from an inliner off the Classifieds here. Got a great deal too. There is a very noticeable difference between the two. The quality difference is obvious. The short cliffords are much heavier than the 2 foot longer Dynomax. The flange is thicker and the grade of steel is much thicker.

I may bead blast the Cliffords and have them jet coated. Anything to make them last longer. I also have a split 292 factory cast manifold (courtesy of Kansas Kustoms) as another dual exhaust option. These are great and will work as good as the Stovebolts. Unfortunately they're not available anymore. See pic below.

With those Hedman you want to, at a minimum, remove the cheapo Rust-o-leum paint job and apply two or three coats of specialty high temp paint. Not the low cost spray can type but the old fashion kind that must be baked on to cure. Rutland makes a 1200 degree Black Stove paint that is great. It must be fired to cure. I have two coats on the Dynomax headers. Not the best finish, certainly will rust over time, but will outlast the mfr cheap paint 3 to 1.

Twisted6,

The second picture is not of the Clifford shorties. It's the factory 292 manifold, split, with the heat riser removed. Mike Yoder sold that one to me earlier this year.

I didn't post a pic of the Clifford Shorty headers, since they can be seen at the Clifford Performance website.
