Its been a while since I have been on. A cold winter and my step-father passing away have kept me away from my car. But, now its warming up a lil and im ready to work again. I got a few questions:

-I have a 79' Gm 250.... Where can I get a cheap non-integral head?

-Would changing my intake from the 1 bbl to a 4 barrel help or hinder MPG?

After i get the head. I plan on getting the manifold so that I can put on a 4bbl. thanks for all the help.

You should be able to pick up a rebuildable core at most wrecking yards. As for gas mileage, I actually got the very best mileage out of a large venturi monojet, but the Holley/Weber 2 barrell gives me the best all around performance, cold starting, and drivability.

Boo's advise is sound.

A 4bbl set up will save gas, IF one only used the primary side. However; the temptation 'use it all' generaly prevals.

You might get Larry/Novaman to comment as he races one of these.

Good luck, John M........

The 4b set will burn a little more fuel I would think Over your 1b.(stock cam) NOW here Comes the BUT now if your changing Head cam & intake. This could very well be a different matter. As to if you would get better Or Less MPGs. So if your just looking for a little more bang and still retain some good MPGs. Here my 2cents in this matter. Small cam RV style maybe Just a little over Offey Intake. and the Holley/Weber 2b from Tom Langdon Dual exhust. and I think you would be pretty happy with the out come. Hope this helps

Unfortunatly, Im gonna have to switch out the heads. Otherwise i wont be able to put on the intake manifold and all that good stuff. Im not really afraid of MPG too much because im only 17 and i dont really have to drive very long to get to nething that i need. Here are a few more of my Q's:

- Do any of the intake manifolds flow better than the others?

- Do any of the headers flow better than the others?

- Do certain diameter headers give certain performance aspects to the engine?

thx in advance

well as for intakes The Offey will be a better daily driver for you. Reason better low to mid range power & tork. As to the clifford is more mid to top end power & tork. now as for headers once u add a muffler and a full set of pipes The header will all seem pretty much the same. Now if your Building a all out Race car then thats a different story. same goes for the diameter and the power/tork and Rpmband your after. But as a daily driver you realy need not worry to much about Pipe size. hope this helps }[oooooo]

Man where u guyss getting all this $ lol?

its hell to be on a teenagers budget, huh? yeah. $5.15 an hour just doesn't cut it when it comes to straight 6 hop up...that in turn leads to ideas of "rat-rodding", and constructing such hop-up pieces as intakes and exhaust...which leads to spending more money...and its a vivous circle man! lol

take it easy.

.desperado.

I just disassembled my seats and my cousin (reputable upholsterer) is going to redo them. and then all my plastic on the inside has been treated and looks liken new. So the interior is soon to be completely done. After that that its on to the exterior. Unfortunatly this is there area that i dont have ne connections in.

If you want to see the nova then you could come all the way down but that would prolly just be a big hassle for you so ill talk to my dad. ttyl.
