This project that i have acquired, is a 14002009 292 block with a 3895052 250 head, Someone has installed new valves put seats in and milled the head. The valve spring seat pressure is too low at 1.890 which is where they were, I believe that is the height for a 292 head What is the correct installed height for that 250 head.

I don't know that I would rely on stock installed height for anything but a known stock spring.

Valve spring gauges are readily available:

I don't remember where I bought mine. I stick it in my bench vise with the spring sandwiched between an alignment base and retaining cap. Seat pressure can then be read on the gauge and installed-height measured directly.

Then one just shims to that on the head.

The spring are installed Per Cam card cam specks, NOT head (250,292, 230 ) They are all the same head design even the 194 ( the 194 has Smaller CCs) other then that all the same when it comes to the springs. So I would check the cam card for the right install height.
