Hello everyone. I am new to this forum, this is my first post. I am currently swapping a 292 into a '96 Chevy 3/4 ton. The motor is bone stock as far as I know, it came out of a late 60s early 70s C-10. The '96 has an NV3500 and 3.73 gears. I am mainly seeking thoughts & advice from other enthusiasts for the swap, as well as some ideas as far as the rest of the truck goes. I have some pictures, although I am not sure how to add them. Thanks for reading!

What engine was in the '96 originally? What transmission do you have? Do you plan on a carburetor or fuel injection? Do you plan on using any of the electronics? Why did you choose a 292?

Hi,
Before you go down this path, are you sure it's legal to swap in an older engine in your state?
It would be a shame to do all that work and flunk inspection.

The '96 had a 305, im using the NV3500 that was in the truck. Im gonna stick with carb for now, might go for tbi down the road. Im modifying the harness to run the stock gauge cluster. My reason for choosing the 292... I want a simple and reliable motor. This build is geared towards maximum dependability.

Yes it is perfectly legal, my state doesn't do inspections.

I noticed the other day that my home state of Tennessee no longer mandates emissions inspections!! Only Nashville/Davidson County and Memphis require testing anymore!!

Big revenue sources for these two cities!!
