NOS GM Goodrench 292 into a 66 lwb. I have to buy headers, exhaust manifold, something. Kansas Kustoms said the newer manifolds weld poorly, to much recycle product in metal,so he really can't help me. Headers they are cool but the best are real expensive. Or Langdon's new cast iron headers. I personally like the old sound of messed with six. Anybody want want to chime in.

Well, I have seen tube headers on EBay and have you checked JC Whitney or even Pep Boys, etc?

If oyu're looking to squeeze every drop of power from this motor I'd say the Long-tube headers. If it's a mild build and you're looking for the sound go with Langdon's cast ones. I just put them on my '64 and they're sweet. Make sure to go full duals for the sound !!!

I just got the Stovebolt cast iron headers from Tom Langdon's. The look of them are sweet, must better looking in my opinion than pipe headers. The only issue I have at this time is I have to customize my power steering bracket, no big deal. The look is worth it.

I have done acouple of searches on the net and found headers from hooker flowtech hedman dynomax cliffford and pacesetter prices range from about 150.00 to 300.00. Anyone try any of these brands and have a preference??

if you put Langdons 3+3 headers on a 292 and run it in a 3100
you will have to ask Tom to:

#1 re-weld the rear flange @ 90 degrees from it's 'as made'' configuation. this will clear the clutch levers at the firewall.

#2 the front header must be shortened to clear the steering box.

I think Clifford makes a set for that engine too.

Also interested in what mufflers you went with and how far back they are from the tail end of the exhuast pipes.

I was looking for a certain sound that I had heard when I first put the headers on. After much deliberation I decided to run dual 2" into a single 3" outlet with a dynomax ultra-flo muffler. While I didn't like the exhaust note at first the batting in the muffler has settled in and sounds much better. It's still not what I was looking for but I'll run it for this season and go duals with dynomaxes next year. If I can figure out how to get a decent sound clip I'll email it to you. Best of luck.
