What's involved in converting my auto choke to a manual. My '49 has a transplanted 235 with auto choke and I want to use the manual choke cables, etc. Is this relatively easy and are there any kits to perform this function?

Much thanks,

Check with most any local auto parts store. There is a manual choke kit that replaces the round black choke coil assy on the side of the carb. Pretty much a screwdriver operation.
Alternately you can dig around a salvage yard and maybe come up with a Rochester manual choke model to use the parts off. Universal choke cable kits are available through the HELP line in parts stores so you don't have to remove the old cable from the dash of the truck in the bone yard.

Thanks for the input. Yes, whoever installed the 235 left the original cables intact, so that helps. I wanted to use original if possible for the original look and feel. Besides, the auto choke doesn't work worth a powder, but the carb is good. I just ordered a manual choke conversion kit via JC Whitney.. Thanks for the info. Much appreciated.
Dear Butch;

Just find a carb with the manual choke on e-bay as suggested.

Stay orginal W/O any "kits". There for Carbs. that never had manual, or are not available.

Good luck. \:\)
