anybody know how much one of these costs? Their website does not list any prices, does anyone know what kind of power advantage one would get on a 292 over like a clifford head, which is just a really well rebuilt stock head...i.e. bigger valves with porting and polishing and decked .100

Mr. Bane;

I don't think It's for sale any more. They were around $4,000 and perhaps, "out of budget" for most folks etc.

Hank (MBHD) or Larry (Twisted 6) would know ALL the facts on that topic.

Or; You could call them direct. It's Sissell's Automotive in West Covina, Ca.

Good luck. \:\)

The head starts at $2940.00 for the basic "Stage 1" (i.e. steet job) and goes up from there. "Stage 2" goes for $3320.00, and it's for a hot street vehicle (or street-strip engine). Then there's the top-of-the-line "Stage 3" build that sells for $3650.00. That's pretty much for all out, extremely hot, drag-strip only engines.

They claim on their website to have produced over 300 hp and 300 ft./lbs of torque in a 250 built with this head, using EFI. I'm guessing a build like that would run in excess of $7000 easily, by the time you fully dress it out and get the engine turn key.

If money is no object, go for it. I love the inline stuff, and built a good running 292 with the help of advice from this site. But saving money and time are most important now; so on my next engine, I'm spending half $7000 and getting 100 more streetable horses from a 383 stroker.

Or, to show you your options, you can get ten less HP than the Sissell engine in a brand new (not rebuilt) small block that runs on low octane fuel, comes with a 1 year warranty, and fully dress it out for less than the cost of the basic Sissell head.

Take care.

I was told by Mike Kirby, the heads are no longer available.
He is not producing anymore, & he does not plan on making anymore. Period!!!

They should update their website, price sheet and catalog. The information from the price sheet on their site still shows prices and information for the head as if it's still available.

The website says the head is

"Temporarily out of stock ... Check back summer '06"

Also, the price sheet is out of date.

It should be updated though.

I wouldn't put a 350 "crate" motor in my 50 Chevy if it was FREE....SCRAP
