Hello all, I'm new here but have been lurking for a long time.
I was wondering if I should remove, braze closed or open, the stock flapper for intake heat, or any other ideas.
I do plan on a holly and water heated intake in the future but in the mean time...

That device helps cold fuel vaporize better when the engine is first started. As time goes on at some point they usually end up stuck open permanently. Aside from maybe a slight stumbling on acceleration with an ice cold engine there are no real problems for worry. If it is still working I'd say leave it alone until you do the intake and exhaust changes. It isn't hurting anything whether it is working or it isn't. For any performance work even on a stock exhaust manifold they are usually removed.

Thanks Mike, it's loose, not frooze-up, but the external sping is toast so I'll just leave it as is.

Are there any drawbacks to it being wired open during a hot Texas summer? Would it run better wired closed during this season or no?

It will Open anyway once it heats up.So i don't think it would really matter.
