My 250 had always idled really rough and a few weeks ago developed a knock. After a compression check revealed low compression in the #2 cylinder, and it went up when I put oil in it, we decided that it had a bad compression ring, and who knows what else. I posted an ad just to see what was out there on Craig's list and I got an email the next day from a guy ironically just down the street from where I got the first used engine. He said he would take $250 for the 250 and since I couldn't afford a new long block, I took another chance on a used engine and this time it paid off.

I missed the local Texas meet in grand Prairie yet again, (sorry guys), as I picked it up this past Sunday. That night I had the old engine out and by Wednesday, I had the new one cleaned, and installed. Thursday I got it running! Finally, my truck is where it needs to be drivetrain wise and I can get back to working on other stuff, and actually driving it! YES! ! !

My A/C isn't on yet, I had to return my A/C evaporator to Hot Rod Air (after returning the bracket too  ) the under dash unit was sitting at too much of an angle and the water wasn't draining properly and it was only blowing straight up no matter where the vents were pointing, so they are sending me their other unit that goes under the glove box this week, so the A/C will be back in soon...

Hey 71stepside
If that motor ever seems to not want to run Try a bigger air cleaner. I played with one of them dinky little fiters and they about Nickle & dimed me to death. They just never seemed to last long.

I was wondering about that air cleaner. Luckily, the new engine came with a larger air filter, chrome even! It is a 2BBL cleaner with a 2->1 adapter, so I might try using that sometime. I like the look of this one now. It really gets the goat of all the V-8'ers out there. Thanks for the heads up!

Yes, I was real glad when I ran the compression check on the new engine and it was 150 all the way down...
