Does anyone knows how I can hook up my water/temp. line on my chevy 250 motor? The motor is in a 1950 chevy that use to have the 216 motor with the mechanical water/temp line that came out of the firewall and went into the block on the back of the motor.
The 250 motor has a plug type with two prongs on the side of the motor under the valve cover.

I think??? they also had a 1 wire sending unit. But what about just putting in a new temp gauge. Like Auto meter or who ever's.

It takes an adapter fitting with a sealing shoulder to hook it up if the tube is long enough to reach ,then if the temp on your 250 goes up the gauge will break (Voice of experience talking). I would take Larry's advice and use an after market unit.

I tapped into the freeze plug just in front of the 5/6 intake port, then used the old adapter from the 235 that used to be in it. You do have to clearence around the manifold a bit. Worked for me.

Okay Armond, how did you tapped into the freeze plug? I do still have the 235 plug out of my firewall so I can use it. It won't reach the stock location on the 250 motor though.
