the bell housing has no inspection door should the bellhousing be removed? the freeze plug is pretty high up in there. i am running a 1955 and up v8 bellhousing
Unfortunately, you are going to have to remove the bellhousing and flwheel/flexplate to gain access to the freeze plug!
the flywheel is off any tricks so the bellhousing will not have to be removed
Are you limited by work space, why would you not remove the bellhousing also. It is going to be very difficult to remove and re-install the freeze plug, since you need to drive it in with a bushing driver pretty much straight on. It is located at the top most portion of the block inside the bellhousing cavity.
yes, remove the bellhousing. lower the rear of motor as much as possible and drive in new plug. tom
