Looking to buy the big wing nuts that you see on a 235 valve cover, who has them.

Thanks

Wing nuts?

The factory used acorn nuts on the 2 bolt covers. Is that what you are refering to?
Any decent hardware store should have them, but since you live in the land of Metric, you could mail order them from McMaster-Carr or Fastenal. Should be 3/8-24 if I remember correctly...

If you are talking about a 4 bolt cover, then perhaps these would work?

3/8-24 sounds awfully large for a valve cover bolt............most of the ones I've seen on american cars are 1/4-20 thread, and if not that, probably 5/16-18

Are you referring to the big valve cover hold down knobs I make??? They go on the studs for the stock 216 and are used on the 235 if you put said studs in the rocker assembly. PM me or email and i can send you a photo - I am unable to post them here or here is a link

pre-54 sixes use two of the rocker assembly studs to hold down the valve cover. They are 3/8-24.

Thanks for the update, gearhead. I never owned a pre-54 Chevy or worked on one, so I'm glad to have the information. I guess Chevrolet really didn't want those valve covers coming loose, did they? That said, a 3/8-24 wing nut should be available at a local hardware store or industrial supply place.

Napa also has them in the Rockford fastner line. I believe you still have Napa stores in Canada.
