These are not specific to a 250 but are generally accepted I think.
Oil,Fuel,and Water Pumps: SECURELY to 20-25 ft.lbs
Valve Covers,Push Rod/Lifter Covers:7-8 ft.lbs.
Oil Pan:7-8 ft.lbs. except corner bolts 12-15 ft.lbs.
Don't overtighten and squish any cork gaskets and
make sure all bolt threads and threaded bores are clean.
Also, after running the engine for a while, check for leaks and loose bolts/nuts.
Here goes...for the 250 from my manual in ft-lbs:
camshaft: - sprocket to cam: 35-45
- thrust plate to block: 12-18
connecting rod nut: 21-26
cylinder front cover bolts: 6-9
cylinder head bolds - in sequence:
step 1 - 50-55
step 2 - 60-65
Damper or pulley to crank: 85-100
fuel filter to carb: 80-100 in-lbs
EGR valve to spacer or intake: 12-18
fuel pump to cylinder block: 12-18
flywheel to crank: 75-85
main bearing cap bolts: 60-70
exhaust manifold: 18-24
oil filter insert to block: 10-15
oil filter: 1/2 turn after gasket contacts surface
oil inlet tube to pump: 10-15
oil pan drain plug: who cares..but is 15-25
oil pan to block: 7-9
oil pump to block: 10-15
pulley to damper bolt: 35-50
rocker arm support shaft to head: 30-35
spark plug: 10-15
valve cover: 3-5
alternator bracket to block: 35-50
alt. adjusting arm to block: 15-20
alt. adjusting arm to alt: 24-34
thermactor pump bracket to block: 12-18
thermactor pump pivot bolt: 22-32
therm. pump adjusting arm to pump: 24-34
therm. pump adj. arm to block: 12-18
therm. pump pulley to pump hub: 130-180 in-lbs
fan to water pump hub bolt: 12-18
carb mounting nuts: 12-15

some of these things dont matter too much though with torque specs...u probabl know which ones matter or not...but if u need more help than its no bother to give more.
thanks for the time and the torque specs.now ill start putting thing together.
Hey trueslayer, are you giving us Ford specs or Chevy specs? I thought you were a Ford guy.
The "sprocket to cam" and "pulley to damper bolt" gave you away.
Greg
UHHHH...HEHEHE...yea...FORD, sorry bout that, but most of the specs would still be the same being the same size engine...anyone care to clarify?
