I have just finished installing a chevy 292 in my 30 Chevy.
I noticed the exhaust manifold is held in place by pins only on the two ouside flanges.Are these pressed in pins and can they be replaced with threaded studs?
I am planning on replacing the stock intake and exhaust manifold in the near future with a offenhauser intake and Langdon headers.I would want to change out the pins at that time.

They can be removed and replaced with studs - it greatly helps with getting the whole works hanging off the side of the head to bolt on.

If I remember right, they're just threaded in.

They are not pressed in. Use a pair of good vise grips and Unscrew them.Then you can replace them with studs.

One thing to be careful of. The holes that you speak of are not blind, they go thru to a head bolt hole. If you use a stud with too many threads, it will dig into the head bolt. Tom

I will check the length of the studs I have with what I take out to make sure I don't hit the head bolt.
