Can anyone tell me whether a 250 pan will fit on a 292 without clearance problems with the crank or rods

The oil pan will fit with no problem.

There is one thing that will give a problem, the oil sump. It is not bad though. Use the sump from the 250 and the matching stand with matching bolt. The stand will need to be modified to allow clearance for the sump tube with the rods/ crank. Double check it, I got caught once. Tom

Thanks for responding tom. I think you are saying that i should use the 250 oil pump pickup tube, stand and screen but to double check the clearances with respect to the 292 rods. I will absolutely do that. I just finished installing a set of your lumps in my head and am sending it our for final machine work. I want to change out the 235 in my 57 that i have run for years and put in a 292. I have been told that the deeper sump on the 292 pan is a problem when performing this swap which is what prompted the question. I had looked at a 235 pan and realized the advice was correct as there is very little extra room. I am getting ready to dig out a 292 block and a spare 250 pan and start building the bottom end.
