I have a 64 Nova with a 230 and single barrel carb. It has the dreaded off idle bog.Have rebuilt it and set up using vacuum gauge, tweeked and adjusted a lot still cant get rid of it ,elec, timing, etc, etc. all check out .So Im gonna get an adapter for a 2 barrel, what 2 barrel should I be getting, manual choke is fine and I can fab up some accelerator linkage.Would like to find something off the shelf ,like from NAPA,O'Rileys,Autozone etc. If a specific car is best need year and type car . Thanks in advance for any / all help..

Check out stoveboltenginecompany.com. Tom has the adapters and small Webers that should do what you want.

On the 1 bbl (Rochester BV I assume?)
Before you give up:
1. They MUST have a good pump shot. If you floor the carb in your hand, the squirter should still be putting fuel in nearly all the way to the floor.
2. They like a high float setting. I think it says 9/32", you can go as high as 5/16" but no higher or they will hesitate.
3. They like rich jetting, 59 or 60 jet at least - especially with today's "blended" gas which has to be jetted richer anyway.

On the 2bbl
x2 on that little progressive Holley/Weber/Pinto progressive 2bbl carb. It is a great little carb and excellent on gas too.
On a stock 230 that is exactly the one to run.

DueceCoupe
Thanks for the response ,Ive done about all you mentioned today and its running pretty decent . Ive got a lot of turns out on the idle mixture to get as much vacuum as I can, probably 2 or a touch more. reset the points / dwell got 33 on the dwell and jacked up the timing a touch, seems to like all that. Even though I rebuilt the carb looks like a tiny throttle shaft leak, but doing pretty good for now . Have an adapter on order and a 74 Pinto carb on the way,so when the parts get here should be a big differance . Thanks again

Panic
Along with a bunch of other stuff I did bump the timing up a little today just by ear,no starter drag and it seems to like that. Its doing pretty good ,and have an adapter and a Pinto 2 barrel on the way,so when the parts get here should be a world of differance . Thanks
