I'm trying to figure out what year it was made. Ive looked at several sites and so far not luck. The number on the distributer pad is F0801TE

The casting number is 3921968 also a couple of other numbers. its a 250 but not sure what year.

a casting number 00N2 on the left side
another one says G287 right by the oil dipstick.

Its been rebuilt has a new clutch and tranny has been rebuilt. I'm putting it in my 54 chevy pickup. The 235 I had in it decided to die and Ive got this one. thanks mark

TE = 1965 230 powerglide truck - per
chuck the truck web page

i looked at that and TE is used in other years also. and it is a 250. somebody just told me that with the date code that it was a 67 or 77. we figured out it must be a 67. still not sure.

This info from Hollander Interchange, 40th ed

TE is a 230 in 65,
but a 250 from 66-68 used in C10-C30 trucks.

I'd say it has to be a late 67 model (G287 = July28, 1967)
I think in 1977 the engine suffix were all three letters.

Agreed, I didnt look far enough down the list. The G287 makes it make sense.

Hey Bluecarpenter,

Where did you find the info for your engine serial number?

My engine has the same casting numbers as yours (392168 & 00N2).
The numbers I find at the dip stick are (D108), but my serial number ends with 'CR' not 'TE' as yours and I can't figure-out what 'CR' might stand for.

Any imformation you can share will be appreciated.

Thanks.
