Hello all,Im working on my 67 chevy truck.Its got a 292 engine.Been needing to rebild the 1 bbl for a while.The kit I had isnt for my carb,an old rochester that aint original.During a search I found that its for a 153 L4 chevy II.Is there a big difference in the right carb for the 292 and this one?I have purchased a newer 292,maybe mid to late 70s.Would that carb work better for my engine?Thanks for all info. Muley

So if I am reading right, the carb you HAVE is from a 153-L4?
Trouble is, the 153 used 3 different carbs -
* 62 used a Rochester B
* 63-67 used a Carter YF
* 68-up used a Rochester MV (I think...), some call this Satan's carb. Me too.

Do you know which one you have?
Anyway they should all run on a 292.
The ROchester B comes in different sizes, the 292 came with the biggest size but I've run the middle and even the smallest one on my 292. It is slower with the smaller carbs but runs/idles ok.

Hey,DeuceCoupe,sorry about my post.I was a bit lost when I posted.From what I found the carb kit is for a 153 L4.The carb I have is from the 50s,7004522 on the base.The kit I had didnt have any gaskets that fit the carb.My truck has sat for a while,then I tried starting it,no go. Replaced fuel pump,no go.The carb wasnt picking up the fuel,hence the rebuild.I am planning on an Offy intake,4bbl later.I think i can get a kit from NAPA.I just thought the 292 carb would be different than a carb for a 153L4.Thanks. Doug Roe's rochester book makes these a snap - I like them 'cause they are a metering rod type carb like a Q-jet and all(?) the Carters. You can plug up all the smog holes (APT, timed port spark advance holes, etc) and make it a really nice carb that dont have the BC's nasal whistle when you touch the throttle, and they are mild, I mean newer. These too came in a larger size on the 292s.

I know ol' scratch personally and his fave is an electronic dual- jet
