Cant you have the OFFY worked on at a machine shop and have a hole machined into the back of it for your Pcv valve?

ran429,

I know this is completely off this topic, but your "292" on your website looks very much like a 230 or 250 (small side covers and short deck block). Did you change engines since the photos?

No, I didnt change anything since i purchased it from the guy that OKIED it back to somewhat running condition.
I have another set of Blue 292 covers and pan which I will repaint soon and install. these current ones on the motor are going bye bye when I find time to complete the painting.

But, I have never checked to see if it actually was a 292 for sure & dont know how.

Looks very much like a 230 or 250 to me.

Here's another of the same valve cover that "stock49" pointed out on Ebay that I just snagged for 14 bucks. Just needs to be stripped and repainted.

These valve covers are on Ebay regularly and be had pretty cheap. They fit the Mercruiser 165 HP inline 6 engines (which is the 250 CI) and are usually marketed and sold on Ebay for Mercruiser engines.

They're made of aluminum, have a thick flange (like the Offenhauser) and (unlike the Offy) already has the PVC port cut into the top. I'm running one on my 292 now. Nice inexpensive alternative to the Offy (though I really like that polished finish). ;\)

That motor in Randy's truck is not a 292. A 292 will have the fuel pump back in the center of the block where his right motor mount is, and the motor mount will be further up where his fuel pump is. For me, this is the quickest way to tell if it's a 292, fuel pump will be in the center of the block.

Right. If it's original it's certainly a 230 (as the 250 wasn't available until 1966). And the 230 and 250 blocks (and casting numbers) interchange, as the only significant difference in the two engines is the crank.

Most likely it's a 230.

it has numbers (casting) of 3921968 just back from the M-Mount right above the GM logo.

That's a 230 or 250, 1964-76, according to the casting number listing on this site.

Now im going to take it on a ONE way fishing trip. I needed an anchor anyways. It will hold a Buoy perfect ! \:D \:D \:D

And that also explains all the B-Schidt I go through when buying parts for it. Im not a fan of the 250 since I owned some novas with them installed. Seem to have WEAK cranks. I havent driven this truck much in the 6-7 years I have owned it being suspended for the last 6 for stupidity. Been sober the last 4+ years and 2 months to go until reinstatement.
After I regain a license I will be in my own truck at work making 30% of the total on each job I complete doing service Plumbing. so I will have a new motor now within the year.
LGRIFFIN will have first dibs on this block come time I am driving with the transplanted one.

Randy, Scrap iron is $55 a ton, it's $95 in the midwest haven't figured that out yet. Strip it down to the short block and get a good rebuilt. You'll also need the passenger motor mount tower, keep an eye out for one, maybe a harmonic damper too. Rebuild the Monojet for the 292 when you get it.

Whats the difference in towers from the ones I have plus the ones i got from you?
Yours are for a V-8.
This is really frusterating to find out its a SMALL 6 so long after I got it. I emailed my uncle and a couple friends to see if they still have theirs in the backs of their sheds. They all have nice LOW mile long blocks and one of them has a full complete running engine. See what they say.
