I put one of Tom Lowes lump port heads about 600 miles ago. What a blast! I found I have .040 pistons on a 200,000 mile motor. I am getting all sorts of comments re .060 rebore. My friends (mostly V guys) say I'll over heat All Inliner comments welcome. Herb

You will only be taking out an additional .010" of cylinder wall material per side, so if it's not overheating now, it wont at .060 over.

Herb,
There is not much to worry on going to .060 over. Except for 1 thing. How much ring groove does your engine have now? It might not clean up if there is too much wear. I doubt it though.

Can you also describe what changes in drivability or performance you had with just the head upgrade?

drivability and throttle response much improved. With my low first gear(700r) I could always be first away from stop lights except for Corvettes and Mustangs! The engine run even smoother then before, no roller rocker noise its a dream. A question for the club, I had E-3 48s from my last tune-up not the proper plugs, but ran fine. When installing the new head I saw that the plugs were full of carbon! Anyone out have good/bad experience with E-3s?

Bcowanwheels, I was burning oil due to leaky valve guides. I bought the head for new guides as well as all the other reasons So far I have not added 1 drop in 5 tankfuls My old engine burned a lot of oil I never saw plug that looked this bad! So anyone out there with E-3 experience like mine?
