JUST QUIT ! I cry every time I see your progress reports! \:\( I guess I just work too much to get mine done. Well, since your not going EFI you were bound to get things done sooner anyway. Keep'em coming then!!!!!!!!!!

LOL..... yeah i wish I had the $$ to go FI right now, and i plan on it eventually. Youll be much happier with EFI when it gomes to driveability and tuning im sure.

RevOD, I see you are using Spectre's air filter, they are one of my sponsers on my salt flat car.
Posted By: neonova75 Re: Updated Picture of my Boosted 6 - 05/04/07 11:10 AM
is spectre better than k&n? or is that more of a personal preference?
Posted By: RevOD Re: Updated Picture of my Boosted 6 - 05/05/07 01:46 AM
Yeah Spectre was what was at Auto Zone lol..... as for preference a lot of people swear by K&N but I honestly don't think it make much of a difference.

We took it out for a drive today, its needs some tuning. At cruise 2500rpm @ 60 im running a 10:1 afr and WOT with 3.5psi 12.5:1. Im going to try a vent tube extension first if no luck there ill move onto the power valve channels.

ok, i'm use to the cheapo fram stuff that just ... works lol. how much was that spectre?
Posted By: RevOD Re: Updated Picture of my Boosted 6 - 05/05/07 02:59 AM
$24 I think
Posted By: neonova75 Re: Updated Picture of my Boosted 6 - 05/05/07 03:05 AM
a k&n costs about 60 doesnt it? hey i was wondering , can i use a stock turbo from an import?
Posted By: RevOD Re: Updated Picture of my Boosted 6 - 05/05/07 03:06 AM
depends, most imports were small 2Lish motors. Best is to go with a GN turbo you can find them for around $150
Posted By: neonova75 Re: Updated Picture of my Boosted 6 - 05/05/07 03:09 AM
i've seen that GN around, but i dont know what it stands for. Grand National?
Posted By: RevOD Re: Updated Picture of my Boosted 6 - 05/05/07 03:12 AM
yeah the Buick Grand NAtional or T-Type turbos. They are the closest you can get as fas as displacement. They were 3.8's and a 250 is 4.1

yeah, that's the setup i'm most interested in. i looked them up on ebay, only found two, and one is going for 500+. little out of my range, lol. i did find this ... what do you think?

You may want to stay away from the Ebay knock off turbos, people have had bad experiences with them. I found mine by browsing a couple of Buick forums. You see them for sale there alot.

ok, it did seem a little too good to be true. i searched t-type turbo instead, and got a better search. where are these forums at?

to get rid of the rust on a turbo, is it ok to sandblast it or are the smaller parts to fragile for the pressure?
Posted By: RevOD Re: Updated Picture of my Boosted 6 - 05/05/07 03:35 AM
I wouldnt just to avoid getting sandin the seals or bearings. Just a wire brush and some hi temp paint. I didnt even paint mine yet.

yeah, that too. i was also reading that .63 turbos are good, what's the .63 stand for?

Don't forget about the Syclones & Typhoons.
Those are 4.3 size engines & the turbos are Mitsubishi TD06-17C-8cm squared. Flows 550 CFMs. Part number 49179-04000integral wastegate, little small though. But they made 14 psi stock boost pressure.
An upgraded turbo from that is a TDO6H-20G, the 14 CM exhaust housing is a little big for a low stall converter, you would need 2600 for it to really launch well.
They have a T-3 flange 4 bolt pattern,water/oil cooled center section.
You can get those used for $150-200 for a stocker
& 250-400 used, or so for the bigger replacement one.

They are not the biggest or baddest, just another option for a low buck turbo install.
