I spent this weekend at a good friend's estate sale helping the family sort, price, load, and even haul a lifetime of "treasures". What an eyeopener. I've done this several times in the last few years but this is by far the biggest stash of diamonds in the rough. There is another similar site about 100 miles north that the family will tackle next weekend and we'll be back at this one on March 26th. While I am astonished of what people bought I'm very concerned that much of it will not sell. Literally tons of 216 stuff and some 235s, AD pickups & parts, 3 fairly complete '48 Plymouths (2 coupes & a sedan) & One '49 two door. '30s, ''40s, '50s Chevy axles, rear ends, trannys.........A '57Chevy school bus who's engine in in a big beat up dump truck. It may be a 261. I haven't been able to check it yet. Lots of Harley stuff. I hauled a complete on the a fellow Inliners shop Yesterday. I pulled a roller chassis off a wall about 10' off the ground with my tractor bucket. Man I thought I had a bunch of crap!

Thanks to my fellow Inliners who stopped by to check it out.

Since Kirt died a few months ago I've been taking a new look at my piles and have started the reduction plan. Some of what is here is tied to what is there since he & I gathered 4 of the AD pickups with some parts here & some there. Any way it is a true heads up! Last week I cleared 16' of work bench in my shop and the walls behind it. Going out in a while to try and get the last 6' done and put up some pegboard. This is a bench that I have not seen the top clear in years. It's only the beginning in reclaiming my shop & storage space. A vow that once cleaned the shop will never be storage again. I have a roadster to build.

A high point Saturday was two young guys who bought a 22R Toyota pickup that we dug out of the piles of metal & parts where it had been setting for years. The bed was full as well as the cab. We got it loaded on their trailer about 11:00 AM. They drove it back around 3:00 PM With big smiles clean and purring like a Kitten! It just needed a fuel pump. laugh

Here are some results from the above rant.

I got the main work bench cleared all 20' of it & the walls behind it. I replaced a broken window & put new stones on the bench grinder. I ripped some 2x4s into furring strips for hanging pegboard & got most of them nails up. While doing that I did a lot of sorting & tossing. At least now I have a place to work from and do some major sorting. It's a new mind set. Things I may use today or tomorrow can stay. Things I may use or need someday are in my sights. laugh From this.

Holy crap! It don't look like the same place. Now make good use of it. P.S. Can I go through the piles you cleared out?

ThanksTom, But that is just one corner. There are 3 more and the middle in there somewhere. This will take at least a a month of steady work to get it where I can clean it up. laugh I haven't thrown anything away yet except broken, worn out, used up. stuff that should have been tossed long ago. When it comes to getting rid of useable pieces I'll let everyone know. All the cabinets & drawers are full too.

A great start! I wish I had a shop or garage. My work space is a tailgate, and the room that I call a work room is only 8x10 and so cramped there isn't room to work. I have a collection of parts and stuff, and your story is a wake up call if anything were to happen to me, my wife wouldn't have a clue what was for the Jeep, the 81, the 65's, the Forester, etc. I need to organize so one can work and not spend more time searching for stuff.

I'd get a lot more done if there wasn't a bar between Home Depot & home. grin
