Hi all,

New guy here and looking for information on using an Atlas 4200 for a street rod project. I have read that this forum used to be a gold mine for 4200 related topics but that the original moderator unfortunately died. I am sorry. I am now wondering if any or all of those 4200 type posts were saved and perhaps are still available to read?

Thanks for any and all help.

Total misinformation. It was the 4200 Vortech dot com forum that the owner died. There never was much 4200 info discussed here. Some of those members are here though, but all that info from that other forum has been lost unfortunately.

While the info is gone - ask your questions and we'll answer.

Thinking the Vortec is a good option (versus 383 stroker) for my '52 international project. I see the facebook page is pretty active, where most of the action is. But I prefer this format. If I can ever get to it... I still plan to try to get the '52 to start.

You can buy an engine for <$2000 pulled from a vehicle with 170K miles. Or you can buy a remanufactured long block from summit (or part from jegs) for more, but it needs lots of parts and a computer. Is it better to buy a pulled engine and overhaul it myself to get the other stuff? I probably still don't get the computer with it.

Suggestions?
