02 Envoy valvetrain noise - 03/20/19 11:13 PM
I want to assume this is in the valvetrain....I cannot tell if it's a lash adjuster or maybe a cam phaser.
Sometimes I will get a good loud tap when started cold, but the odd thing is if I shut the motor off and immediately restart it, the noise is gone.
If I plug the top port on the valve cover for about 15 sec, the tapping stops.
Thia noise has been ongoing with varying intensities for over a year, never really has gotten worse. If I shut down one cylinder at a time, no change.
The noise is much quieter after about 10-15 miles of driving, also of I just momentarily tap the gas when idling, the noise goes away at the moment of touching the gas pedal...which is why I thought it could be a cam phaser or maybe even an injector.
All input and criticism appreciated.
