Hello folks, I have a 53 3100 chevy pickup. I'm putting a blown 292 with Tremec tko trans. I was going to use a hydraulic throwout bearing. Running a aluminum radiator with 2 one and 1/4 inch tubes and a 3300 cfm fan. Also the 292 is 3" longer I believe. I think I'm going to have to push it into the cab a little. I have read many bad thing about hyd. TOB. I have a space problem. Does anyone know what brand is the best. Or am I just wasting my time. Removing the tranny is not that big of a deal but no fun. Losing my clutch is bad news for me and everyone around me.

Most all modern cars in the last 20 years have used hydraulic throwout bearings, so this isn't anything new to the industry. You could salvage one off numerous junkyard cars or go aftermarket. Not really any risk, they are pretty much figured out even by the aftermarket ones.

Thanks. I have one off a T5 trans that I'm not using because I bought a new TKO 5 speed. I presume they will interchange. Should I rebuild it ore go aftermarket? Budget is not an issue.

It might be an easier install if you could find one that bolts directly to the TKO instead of a generic aftermarket style that may require some fab work to make fit, unless there is an aftermarket one that is a direct bolt-on. Either way I personally don't have a preference.
