Why can't I drill holes in my rotors,it can't be rocket science and would save big bucks.Any tips on this?

Well, you can if you want. But keep in mind that
you are weakening the rotor which can cause warping or disintegration. Drilled rotors such as used in race cars of all types are specially treated for strength and are are designed to be drilled or vented in a specific pattern and are made of high caliper material.

What is your overall goal? Do you have brake fade that you are trying to correct? Are you racing on a road course? If you aren't losing your brakes, you can save even more bucks by not drilling. If you are doing it strictly for appearance and have solid rotors, go for it, but buy drilled rotors if yours are vented.

My experience with this is not to dissipate heat but to rid the Brake Pad of brake dust. Several years ago I wrenched some Road Course cars and I drilled the rotors at first with no problems but it was very time consuming.I laid an angled pattern and grooved the rotors with a ball rotary file.They were grooved so the rotation force slung out the brake dust. It worked great and took a lot less time. Paul
