Is there a disc brake swap that leaves the wheels in the stock location without having to resort to dropped spindles? Most seem to move them out 3/8's to 15/16's of an inch.

I didn't come across a kit that didn't move them out. Mine is from H&H for stock spindles and the wheels are out about 1/2 inch. You can compensate for this with a different then stock wheel.

Our friend "Buffalo"--see the "Advertisers" link from the Inliners homepage--says that his kits "do NOT move the wheels outward." i have found on other things that he delivers what he promises.

God's Peace to you.

Don,Buffalo's add says for '37 to '54 so I assumed Zeke's '56 or my '55 wouldn't get any from Buffalo.Am I wrong? Does he build later year stuff too?

Good luck. \:\)

Have you tried www.mpbrakes.com ?

Hey Brian, that's a good site.

Seems kinda 'pricy' though ($900)for a complete disc brake (parts) conversion.

Or is that the "going rate" these days??

I had quite a time dealing with mp brakes on my 56. You might look elsewhere

Yes, they are expensive, but it's a good site for reference. You should be able to find out if they offer a setup that doesn't move the wheels out, and what they are using for discs, etc...

Gentlemen;

Yes both those sites are good for reference and thanks.

Steve @ Buffalo will be back next week. As a club member who helps everyone free, I think he should get "first chance" at any deals.

Happy trails \:\)

I will second the mention of Steve @ Buffalo being a nice guy. He is doing my dropped spindles, disk brakes, dual master cylinder and he takes the time to answer my dumb questions cause I'm a real novice with these things. I ordered his water pump relocation adapter to use the stock 53-54 water pump on my 61 235. It came with the greatest directions for installation.

I went with his disk brakes kit because he talked with me about my installation and why I needed certain things over others. i could have spent less but I felt getting his knowledge when I needed it was worth the extra money.

Buffalo is the "Mr. Wizzard" when it comes to anything modified with your old Chev. I have several of his kits in my 47 coupe; modern steering box with orig. front end, old goofy 3 speed trans-mod to normal side cover fix, a real sway bar bolt-on. Bottom line, you'de better ask this man for any fix or mod. If we could only get him to write a book!

Concerning Buffalo; He does excellent stuff! At least in my humble opinion. He also takes the time to insure you know what you're getting, and how to install his "stuff". Aside from being an all around good guy, who drinks Texas beer he will make sure you're happy with his products.(stuff)
Personally, I highly recommend his "stuff" , and I'm using it on my 27 T roadster. All it's done so far is PERFORM!
SOB Life is too short.
