I've got a '53 Chev. 3/4 T. long wheel base, and I'm putting in a T-5 transmission behind a 261. The front drive shaft will only be 19" long to the carrier bearing--will this cause problems? Would it be better to go with a one-piece drive shaft?

Thanks for any info--

no that would not cause a problem. i would keep the 2 pice drive shaft. a lot less work to shorten the front shaft. then to make up a 1 pice shaft.

Absolutely, because the 2 pc truck shaft is much stronger/durable too.

These were put in cars during the "muscle car" era for the added horsepower/torque/abuse etc.

Be sure to ballance the new front piece for insurance.

Good luck. \:\)
