Guys I have a 1954 Chev 2dr. sedan with 235engine w/ air cooled powerglide trans.
I am thinking about doing a trans swap, but keeping the original engine for now.
I have seen people bolt the TH350 engine to the 250 chevy engine, would that trans. work on my 235?

What are some options I have? Will the liquid cooled powerglide Bolt right up to the 235 engine?

If you are replacing the original powerglide with a later TH350 you have some work cut out for you. You will need an adapter and starter ringgear (availabbe from Buffalo Enterprises), an open driveshaft rear end, new driveshaft, starter (probably 12 volt due to ne mounting) and rear trans mount.

I'm pretty sure the TH350 will be lighter which is good and has 3 speeds to make the little 235 seem to have more HP. Good luck

I just did some more research and I can see that it just doesnt make sense to do a trans swap like this on the 235. IF i want to leave the inline 6, it makes much more sense to swap in a 250 inline 6 that already has a th350 bolted to it.
If you decide to do that, be aware that the 250 block is slightly longer than the 235 block, so some alterations may need to be made. The good thing is that on 54, there is enough room to accomplish this with out to many headaches.

I have a 250/th350 in a 50 Chevy Sedan. It was a pretty easy swap but their are a few things you need to do. Let me know if you need any help. I'll be more than happy to help any way I can.Todd
