I'm trying to put a 5 speed from an 89 firebird behind my 292. those trannys are offset about 15 degrees I think. Is that going to cause a problem other than the shifter does not come out straight up? will the tranny get enough lubrication? Any help appreciated. Greg

Do some searches for T5 swaps on this forum, there are a lots of posts on this subject.

I have an '83 Tranny from a z28 just like that in my '40 Coupe. It works just fine. You'll need to fab a custom cross member to mount it. I think GM tilted it to fit it in the small trans tunnel they had in those cars.

Yeah, I've looked all over the place and can't find anything about using the tilted tranny like that. Guess I'll keep looking.

I see I can get the camaro/firebird bellhousing for around $150 that has the tranny offset built in so that the shifter and rear mount will point straight up, but I don't know about using a master/slave setup with the old style clutch pedal in the 53 chevy. Does anyone have experience with this ?
