Wanting feedback on headers and intake for my 270 engine. Engine is currently stock. Anybody use a single 4barrel intake? ,a dual 4barrel? , dual 2barrel setup?Cliffords has everything but I think he is proud of what he has.Can either use Nicson headers or Cliffords; but haven't seen any other that will work.
What do you think?

Its not so much that they are proud of their products as much as it is little or no demand for them, and they have to make the products in such low quantities it costs them more to have them made compared to having a 1000 of something made versus 10 or 20 at a time.

Anybody else want to give input on the intakes?

I have used a Clifford single 4 BBL since 2001 on my 270. I got it at a time when I was told they were developing a new design and were having their casting done by whoever was casting the Offenhauser parts. It is rough, It has big ports, no name, and it took a bit of fitting. I did not get the new design, a logo, or a discount. Clifford is out for me and has been/will be. I would spend the time and $$ to find a better setup for your 270. Sadly I don't know how many 4 BBL options you have.

Mine works well I was just a little disappointed with how it looked. I kept it because I was up against a time line. Did you check Patrick's and Tom Langdon?

Nothing at Langdons. Patricks has what appears to be a single 4barrel intake

We tried to order from Patrick's a couple of month's ago.. We wanted to run a 4 barrel on the 302 that we will race at Loring, ME on the mile and a half airport Runway. He said at the time they weren't available. We called Clifford and he said they could send it right out. It took a while, couple of weeks or a month. His holdup was the adapter plate. But we have it and have the engine running. A very nice piece and perfect fit.

Post some pictures. I'd like to see it and compare it with mine. Does it have a logo or any markings? I had to supply my own adapter plate.

Pics would be nice.Yes Cliffords charges extra for adapter plate frown

I tried to just bring the picture here but I can't copy and paste. So this is where that manifold is posted on the web. There's more pictures of the engine there and a couple of video's of it running when we got it fired last week.

Yes it was a $50 addition to get the adapter. But it has studs and Allen button heads and a gasket and some brass fittings. I couldn't do one fast enough to be cost effective on this. It's very nice and a 4 hole one that matched the carb exactly.

That is nice! Nothing wrong there at all. Here's my no logo Clifford.

Ok my Clifford intake arrived. So did my "Patricks" headers by the means of "The Truck&Car Shop".
Paper with the Headrs state may have to do some grinding for fit?.

I'd post pics but don't know how. The Intake looks beefy& states requires water to be hooked up otherwise voids warranty. Those Headers say" chevy" on the underside but have been "stamped GMC". What kind of issues with mounting?

My headers are from Patrick as well. They were cast foe Chevy but they do some grinding to make them fit GMCs and mine did. My only issue was that the intake was made for the big port heads and mine has small ports. I made reducing rings with a taper and had a little problem sealing the intake ports but it works .

Sounds good. Called both Buffalos&Patricks' about the headers. Both would require "fit grinding" although at Patricks stated "bolt em and go" Gonna make them (Patrick's) work since I already have them.

My headers were the softest cast metal I had ever seen. I worried about flanges breaking. They didn't and I guess use and heat have hardened that. They are not soft now.

good to know. what are the sizes (openings) in the fenton headers and that Clifford intake? do I just use a gas black pipe plug; where the vacuum port is on the intake?

thanks for the advice

My headers also had GMC stamped on them. The only modification I could find on them was where they ground a flat to stamp the GMC. Here's how I modified them to fit a 248.

Found a set of Clifford 270/302 headers.
