Some 194 heads had smaller chambers, and could be used on a 292 to bump up compression. Any tips on doing this? I'd like to hot rod my 292 a little, but don't want to spend the money for lump porting etc. its just a street machine and will not ever be seriously raced.
The lump ports are a better solution! The 194 head doesn't flow well without serious valve work.
If you can look through old posts here there is a lot on this subject. Most here are not 194 head fans because by the time you un-shroud the valves in the small chamber the compression advantage is gone. But if you have the head and access to some tools you might have some fun with it. Before there were lump ports some guys just removed the head bolt boss and used a short bolt there with access from a hole drilled above. It's the lumpless port approach. I've read that 10-15 hp could be gained that way. Bigger valves take more un-shrouding.
Power goal is?
