Greetings . . .

I am a member of several FB groups. One of the inline related car groups posted a link of a video showing what looked like two Buick straight eights nose to tail at idle:

I did some legwork and found the FB user "Streamliner C16":

Turns out he's got a webpage too:

He's based in Sweden and has recreated the Mercedes land speed racer from the 30's. Talk about an ambitious project.

So, does either Buick have an excellent harmonic damper?
This is the weak link in L engines: crank length makes them very flexible and prone to vibration damage.

I'm still trying to find out more about the build. He's built a cosmetic valve cover bridge between the two engines. There's ample room for balancer in there.

What an undertaking! I'd like to hear it at speed. I've seen double sixes and a double four but this is loooong!
A good friend ran a Buick 8 in a dragster in SOCAL in the '60s. It had homebuilt injection. He claimed it still holds a record because the class was eliminated. He sat down with Crower to design the cam and they took into account how much they thought the crank & cam would tweak at high rpm. He said when it hit 6,000 rpm it was like shifting gears. He laughed when he thought that some guy has that cam in an engine today that won't come close to that rpm and thinks it is a total piece of crap.

His homepage includes a video of a pass during a 'Historics' meet. I don't think he's trying to set any records. With a 2.73 rear-end he doesn't need to wind it up much to go 120. With a 32" tire he would be pushing 5700+ rpm to go 200 - but I don't think his twin 248s have the horsepower to do that.

I don't think I have ever been in a car that had such a pronounced "on cam" feel.

I'd like to see more of this. I've always been impressed by crazy people.
