so im sorry if this is an incredibly hackneyed question that i've failed to look for here on this forum. i've found a 1954 235 c.i. with a automatic for $400 and not seeing many of these around here, figured id jump on it to put in my '49 pick up.
this being my first venture into cars really with my dad...

i was wondering if offenhauser made a 3x2 intake or if you would need adapters on the 3x1?
i guess i could do some hunting but im fed up with the internet. so i thought i'd ask some of y'all who might just happen to know!

Well, first thing is, they stoped making the 235 in '62, so what exactly is it? what kind of tranny is it? Have you looked at the Casting #'s section on this site to verify?

yeah sorry about that. '54 not '64. typo. um its don't know 'bout the tranny. but that's irrelevant to the question.

3x1 is all I'm aware of. Tom Langdon sells an adapter and Holley/Weber progressive 2bbl carbs which work pretty good. Many people are using such a setup sucessfully.

FYI,
If the engine/tranny is from a truck originally, then it may have a 4 spd Hydromatic instead of the cars typical Powerglide. Big difference in cost/value.

i've seen 2x2 (edmunds) but never 3x2

I have an Eddie Edmunds 2 deuce intake. There is one just like it on Ebay right now. Search '216 Chevy'. The listing mentions that it will fit a 235 - but they must be talking about the old 'Hi-Torque' - as the runner holes are not large enough for the 235/261 head.

These intakes are designed for three bolt (ford flathead) carbs built on the Stromberg EE-1 base, and the smaller throat EE-7/8 base will bolt up as well.

To get to three deuces you will probably have to go the adapter route on an Offenhauser or a McGurk. Langdon's was mentioned for an adapter to a 4 bolt carb (Weber). There is a place called Vintage Speed that sells a three bolt adapter -- making ford venturi's an option (Stromberg 97/81/48s or Holley 94s) depending on the cfm you're after.
