SWEET

what size are the turbos? And how much boost from the twins. these are 250 blocks right?
Hey Douglas,
how about some more info on these cars.
ET's MPH?
HP?
Weight ,etc....
Ok!

Let me start:

- The dragster ran at the first time in the last weekend. Remember a white car, twin turbo, that I sent some photos in another topic?? The engine is now running in this Dragster.
It´s a 250 Chevy, with billet roller camshaft, and a lot of boost (about 38~40 psi). It ran 7.500s at 1/4 mile, and reach about 1.350 hp.

- The Orange one is a 1976 Chevrolet Opala, with 292 fuel injected engine, brazilian mechanical camshaft, 75mm throttle body, and TA-66 turbocharger. It use a Brazilian Fuel injection (www.fueltech.com.br), and reach about 1.000 hp with 12 160lbs/h fuel injection and no nitrous shot. It run about 28psi of boost, and the best ET is 8.920s on the 1/4 mile. Rev about 8.000 rpm and use a 1.82 powerglide with 5.500 stall and 8" TCI torque converter. It´s maded by my engine builder.

- The other car (3th photo) I don´t know the exact configuration, but the turbocharger seems to be a TA-66, and it´s a 250 chevy!

- The last one is the Brazilian fastest Street car with radial tires. It´s a Chevy 250 with TA-66, and weber 44! It turns about 10s low at 1/4 mile, and have 1100 hp. Maded by my engine builder too!

* The atual record of 6 cyl turbocharged car is 8.6s at 1/4 mile, maded by a Brazilian Wagon with 250 chevy, fuel injected!

those are some of the wildest six's i've ever seen. wow. 28 lbs of boost. what head gaskets do you think they are using? tom
Tom!

They´re using Felpro Gasket with o´ring!I don´t remember the part-number and model of the gasket, but I have one in my house and I can see at night...

PS: They are really fast!!

Here is some links with vídeos of this cars... Take a look:

I have used that gasket also w/nitrous & supercharged, no problems.
I just do not like the 4.125 bore (if I remember correctly?)OK if you want to lower your compression a little.

douglas, really liked watching your videos. sounds like alot of the cars use turbos. i was also impressed with the VW bugs. it is impressive they can get the front wheels up for so long. in my neighborhood all the cars at the track are v8 powered. sometime i'll get mine in and see how it does. tom
Larry!

The gasket is the 1025! 9 at 10 cars use this gasket here!!
Tom!

90% of Brazilian Buggies uses the 4 cyl. watercooled engines, that originally equip the GOLF/JETTA cars. Here, this engines (called AP) reach 800 hp +, and also a 4cyl Dragster turns 7.9s in 1/4 mile.

But the fastest Buggie here have 2.300cc Aircooled engine, Fuel Injected turbocharged with Pauter Machine cylinder heads, and turns 9.023 @ 235Km/h in 1/4 mile. Really fast!

The 6Cyl. cars just became fast in the last 2 years. It seems we´ll (brazilian) gonna take a little more Horsepower from this engine, and also better times.
My objetive is to enter the 7 seconds club with a 6 cyl. car.

Hi, I notice in your third picture that the engine has finned aluminum side covers. What are these off of, are they from a Brazilian block? I've been looking for a set of these to complement my offenhauser valve cover.
Craig ,

If you want custom side covers Mike Kirby makes them Billet, with fins, or what ever you want on them, like your name ,etc.

I checked with Mike Kirby, and his covers appear to be ball milled billet. Are there any suppliers for a true finned cover? The billet ones would look goofy on my nostalgic hot rod.

Yeah just like the marine, offey clifford, or the engine companys cover. Pretty much what i'm doing with mine. I just did
That one with the numbers. But he after the flat bottom look in the fins. Not rounded like from a ball mill.I can understand that.
