i got some information from a dealer!

"As good as the TKO is it is still using brass synchronizer rings. 6500 rpm is about the limit these units can handle. The T56 which has carbon fiber triple and double cone rings will work at higher rpms"

Let's go to the 6 speed tranny world!!! ;\)

edy, i don't think the 6500 rpm shift point is a problem. for example, lets say the shift point is 7-7500 rpm. the sycro does no work to pull out of a gear. the engine revs down for next gear, which is below the 6500 rpm trouble spot. shifting should be fine. be sure to get a trans rated at the torque you are creating. iwill try and run some rpm # on that trans. tom

Edy

I dynoed my pretty much stock Syclone & made 550 ft lbs of torque, close to the limit of the T-56 6 speed.

I think you are going to make more than that.
I ran on pump gas.
You are going to run Methanol & really crank up the boost pressure (more boost, equals more torque & HP)

Seriously , you should not have a problem w/that trans.
Good luck!!

Hank

The tranny will be a Viper unit, with GM bellhousing and 26 spline! the guy from RS gear saiid this unit can hold 600 lbsft and shift above 6500 RPM. as far as i know this is the strongest tranny available (excluding the Tranzilla t-56 for 1000 lbsft) do you feel that this tranny won't hold my power level?

Edy,
that tranny should be fine for what you are doing, so do not worry about using it.

For what its worth I spent the money for a TKO600 and am not a happy camper. It might have something to do with the guy handling the lever coming out of the middle of the transmission (!) but I sure had no sucess with mine. I went back to the 4 speed. It was in a '56 Chevy with a 292 that has been pretty well warmed over but still very streetable. It has run high 13's at just under 100 mph. I don't feel like I got my money's worth on the TKO. I've put it in my '64 C-20 pickup (with a 292,of course) that I will be using for a tow truck. Even in it I'm not thrilled. It shifts OK but is kind of noisie. We'll see how it does.

i've found a good alternative to use the TKO, i'm having a TKO 600 customized to shift above at 8000 RPM with the shift lever on the right position to my car! and buying a kisler clutch kit and a hydraulic convertion wki from Robert from http://www.thedrivenman.com i hope this trasmission soap opera ends now!!! ;-p
